Roof Painting & Recoating – Commercial & Residential

The roof of your home or business should be aesthetically appealing. It also needs to protect against the elements of the Hamilton climate. It must be done right, or you’ll have to do it again in a few short years.
Painting a roof is far more advanced than just “slapping on a couple of coats of paint” and requires extremely thorough preparation. Not only is the preparation important. The paints used on roofs must be of ultra-high quality, and offer heat reflection and durability compared with standard exterior paint, for example.

The general process for painting a roof:

Harness system installed or scaffolding fall protection to be erected around the roof perimeter.

All areas of moss and mould will be sprayed with Roof Painting Hamilton’s special moss and mould killer.
Water blast the existing surface to remove all dirt and grime, and any loose or flaking paint.
All areas will then be hand scraped and where required to remove any further loose or flaking paint that has not been removed by the water blasting.

Hammering in or replacing loose nails or screws.

Removing rust and spot priming with Galvanised Iron Primer.
Apply two full coats of premium water-based acrylic roof coating with airless spray.
Dismantle harness system or scaffolding and tidy up property.
After the job’s completion, you will have a beautiful investment with added durability and colour, that will look great and protect your home or business from the elements for many years.

Roof Wash - Moss & Mould Treatment

Roof Painting Hamilton offers an affordable roof painting professional roof cleaning and washing service that is designed to get rid of moss and mould.

If your roof is covered in moss, mould or lichen, then there is no need to replace your roof. Just give us a call and one of our friendly staff will come out and provide a complimentary free and no obligation quote and advice. Our roof treatment lasts up to 18 months and will extend the life of your paint whether it’s a new paint job or an old one in bad condition.

Most people are not aware of the structural damage moss, mould and lichen can do to your roof. If left untreated, it will start to degrade your roof due to the caustic nature of mould spores and the moss and mould will cause excess water absorption to concrete and clay tile roofs degrading them faster. This will make you need to replace your roof 10 years earlier than if it were treated. Excess moisture inside your roof will cause premature rotting of your timber frame and can cause mould to grow inside your roof space.
